The winter jackets and snow shovels have come out for the year. We have taken the necessary precautions to protect ourselves from the cold, but what about our technology? Our technology is one of the most important things in our life. We need to know how to make sure that our tech doesn’t freeze over. Here are a few ways to do that.
Don’t Leave Your Device in the Car
Take the extra trip to bring your laptop in, it’s worth it. By leaving our devices in the car they can be exposed to the cold for long periods of time. This can cause permanent damage that can be easily avoided. Even something as small as leaving your phone in the car while you run into the store could cause damage.
Power Them All the Way Down
Before taking them into the cold, power them all the way down. This can help to protect important data on your devices. We also recommend waiting for them to be at room temperature again before turning them back on.
Bring a Power Bank
Batteries run out much faster in the cold, and if you aren’t careful you could end up with some dead tech. It’s important to bring an extra battery, even if you keep it in your car for emergencies.
Put a Screen Protector on Your Phone
The cold makes screens more likely to break. By having this extra layer of protection, you can make sure that your screen doesn’t crack under cold weather.
The cold the be harsh on our tech. That is one reason why, as an IT service company, we are cloud-based. If we lose power, we do not have to worry about the cold damaging critical data. Taking precautions like these can help make our lives easier in the long run. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to info@taznetworks.com for help.
