As you start to prepare your 2019 business plan, have government requirements caused you to start to think about what compliance efforts you need to tackle?

It’s Quarter 4! Hard to believe that 2018 is winding down. As you start to prepare your 2019 business plan, have government requirements caused you to start to think about what compliance efforts you need to tackle?

We are seeing more and more of our clients come under the scrutiny of governmental authorities. Gone are the days of just having the kid down the street handle your information technology needs. It’s not just about fixing computers and servers these days, it’s about having a trusted partner to tackle major milestones in your business.

In 2019, TAZ Networks will start to tackle head-on the need for security compliance and how to demonstrate this. Here’s a warning: unfortunately, this isn’t a cheap endeavor for most businesses. It takes dedicated time and resources to properly show compliance and to fully understand all of the governmental requirements.

SIEM software or “Security Information and Event Management” (pronounced SIM) is becoming common, even for small businesses. What should you know? If you are under scrutiny to provide the needed compliance in your areas of work, then this will be a requirement for you moving forward. And it’s wise to factor this into your budget now. From the IT perspective, it takes a dedicated project to set up the software and policies to make sure that compliance is shown. And, as you can imagine, even the software isn’t cheap.

As I tell our consultants, we are now more than ever a security firm. For good reason, compliance efforts help you show auditors your best efforts when it comes to IT security and standards.
